Who's at the helm of Chic Digital?
Anika Repole Wilson
Hey I'm Anika! I won't go into my professional life too much - you can view my Linkedin Profile here - but I have spent over a third of my life in the field of Marketing, which I landed in by happenstance and now thoroughly enjoy.
I have managed Advertising, PR and Digital Marketing accounts for some of the Caribbean's most recognized brands and worked closely with many of the Caribbean marketing industry's most talented minds. Having worked in four Advertising Agencies, I have taken all that I have learnt and placed it at the core of my strategy for creating and building my own brand; Island Mom and establishing Chic Digital.
In addition to Marketing, I have lectured at the Community College level in my original field of study; Psychology and been a published Lifestyle writer for over 15 years.
Island Mom was inspired by my mother; Dahlia Repole, and was created in 2014, a little over a year after her passing, when I became a mother myself. I knew that Island Mom would be one of my greatest passions, but I also knew that it would, in some way, help many others.
In talking with the members of Island Mom, and trying to truly figure out what problems I could help them solve, two things always stood out; the need for MORE TIME and MORE MONEY! As Moms, especially in the Caribbean, often times we tend to be the main breadwinners of our families, thus leading to an enormous amount of demands on us; emotionally, financially and mentally.
During my last full-time employment in the corporate world, I was faced with a very difficult situation - needing to constantly show my value and demonstrate 'stamina' because I was a mother and wife. I worked in an office where only one other mother was employed and for those of us who know what it is like to be a working mom, it comes with many challenges - the pink polka dotted elephant in the room being - the guilt! I felt so guilty all the time, and the guilt often shifted from wanting to build my career to wanting to be home and not even being able to taste a hint of work-home balance.
Out of desperation, I looked to Island Mom and asked for members to apply to be my Virtual Assistant - I needed help! I was overwhelmed at work with no end in sight, my health was beginning to suffer and so was my family. When my VA started working with me, there was some relief and then the obvious light bulb went off, and as they say, the rest in history or in this case; herstory.
After hiring my VA, I was able to finally put some focus on my own entrepreneurial goals, that were constantly on the back burner. My VA handled tasks that didn't involve client-confidentiality for my full time job, she also did tasks related to Island Mom that I kept putting off. Yes, I was out of pocket, but it meant I was finally able to meet some deadlines for my 'full-time' clients while simultaneously being able to grow my personal business. It was and still is, one of the best investments I have made to date, and here is why.
Within less than 4 months I was able to quit my full-time job and still meet my financial obligations. During those 4 months, I was able to invest the needed time to take MY business to the next level, get some much needed time with family, while being able to walk away from my full-time job with clients who were happy with my performance. Entrepreneurship, was no longer a pipe-dream, its now my reality.

With that said, I have combined my talents and experience in the arenas of Strategic Planning, Teaching and Marketing to create the focus of Chic Digital; Strategy. I not only wish to help solve the problem of the lack of work-home balance especially working moms, but I wish to show you all how to build your brand yourself!
